Powerup Nigerian Initiatives (PNI)

This Specialist Group is responsible for determining urgent solutions to Nigeria's acute power shortage problem. Energy and good power supply have been major hindrances to our national development in years past. No nation can develop and actualize its potentials without an adequate electricity supply. Businesses, big or small, cannot perform optimally in any economy without a suitable electricity supply. The PNI, comprising professionals in engineering, power generation, distribution, and related fields, will focus on bringing up practical ideas and solutions both in the short and long term to address this problem in conjunction with relevant bodies and government agencies charged with this obligation. This group is open to all Nigerians with relevant experience and capabilities to help in solving this problem.

To collaboratively embark on programs, initiatives, and promote policies aim to ensure adequate power supply to all Nigerians with the shortest possible time frame.

DUTIES

1. To work with the government and relevant agencies in bringing power solutions to all of Nigeria.
2. To identify the area of weakness and proffer relevant solutions.
3. To embark on projects that will bring about an urgent revolution in the Nigerian power sector.
4. To contribute positively and meaningfully to the goal of attaining energy sufficiency
5. To work with global power generating and distribution companies and government agencies in bringing long-term solutions to the Nigerian power problems.

This specialist group is open to all registered and active members of the Great Nigerian Assembly (GNA), whose professional focus is on power engineering, power generation, distribution, and related disciplines. You can join this Specialist Group at your local, state, or national chapter of the GNA or start the group if not already in existence within your locality.

Health for All Nigerians (HAN)

Health is wealth! The productivity of any nation is directly related to how healthy the citizens are. Nigeria is highly blessed with top-notch specialists in a health-related discipline, demonstrating professional acumen globally. However, Nigerian citizens are languishing in desperate need of good medical attention due to a lack of good functioning medical facilities and largely due to an unmotivated work force. Health for All Nigerians (HAN) is a specialist group of GNA members with the core responsibilities of advocating for adequate health facilities and programs to meet the health needs of Nigerians. The HAN is responsible for developing a framework for short- and long-term attainment of medical sufficiency for Nigerians . Annually, Nigerians spend large sums of money on foreign trips and medical expenses overseas. The HAN specialist group of the GNA will work out how the global health skill set of Nigerians can be harnessed and deployed to bring about radical improvement in our health sector.

Doctors, Pharmacists, Nurses, and other health professionals will work collaboartively at the State, National, and Global levels to design and implement the goals and objectives to improve the general well-being of the people.

THE GOAL

To aid Nigerians in attaining quality and affordable health care services through a positive influence on government and relevant agencies.

DUTIES

1. To provide a conducive environment for health workers and increase the ratio of health workers to patients through collaboration with the right board and agency.

2. To collaborate with appropriate organizations and agencies to ensure that quality and equitable health care is accessible to all, especially at the level primary health care.

3. To advise and provide workable framework to ensure affordable health care for everyone, incredibly remote areas.

4. To assist in the efficient delivery of health care services.

5. To embark on health-related projects that will significantly improve health service delivery in Nigerian.

6. To work with global health organizations and government agencies in bringing long-term solution to the Nigerian health problems.

7. To organize conferences and seminars aimed at improving the overall health of citizens of Nigeria with an emphasis on health education.

Membership is open to all registered members of GNA interested in impacting the health sector. These include and are not limited to Doctors, Pharmacists, Nurses, and all health-related professionals within and outside Nigeria.

Feed Our Nation Initiatives (FNI)

Food security in Nigeria is a challenge because of the less focus on large-scale agriculture. Agriculture can be a significant source of revenue to the Nigerian economy. Over the years, oil revenue has been the source of revenue for the country; however, agriculture is an excellent alternative to improve the population's nutritional status. The majority of farmers in Nigeria depend on seasons to plant and harvest. This seasonal production affects the quantity of food produced and available to the community, especially at the family level, not to talk of at the community level. Food security faces poor machines or mechanization, inadequate storage facilities, and poor transportation systems.

The FNI specialist group comprising professionals in agriculture and related disciplines will plan and strategically develop workable solutions to improve the Nation's nutrition.

THE GOAL

To ensure that affordable and quality food and nutrition is available to all irrespective of social class and financial status through sustainable agricultural strategies and solutions.

DUTIES

1. To provide advisory support towards implementing policies to reduce poverty-related malnutrition.

2. To create solutions that will increase food security for the less privileged of the society, children, pregnant and lactating mothers.

3. To encourage the adoption of large-scale agriculture to improve the quantity and quality of food available to the population.

4. To provide implementable solutions towards providing adequate mechanization to improve food production.

5. To promote agriculture as the alternative to oil in sustaining the economy and providing food security.

6. To organize conferences and seminars aimed to gain better insight into agriculture and its impact on the Nation.

MEMBERSHIP

This membership is open to registered members of GNA who are interested in impacting the agricultural sector. Members can include Agriculturists, food scientists, dietitians, nutrition educators, soil scientists, and so forth.

Technology Transfer Consortium (TTC)

Technology Transfer Consortium is a group of GNA specialists charged with mediating  the needful change in technology.

There is a greater need to adopt new technologies and apply their solutions to problems in the face of emerging technologies and information. So far, Nigeria seems to be scaling with telecommunication even if general adoption of technology is slow. Underinvestment in technology has affected its adoption of emerging technologies, especially in industries. Nigeria still relies on imported raw materials for manufacturing, affecting the end products prices.

With little or no inspiration from the government to leverage emerging technologies to solve the rising challenges, the country faces on most counts. Implementing industrial technology strategies with combined effort from the private and public sectors is paramount to overcoming the deficit in technology adoption. The agricultural sector will benefit if Nigeria adopts advanced technology, which will improve the economy. Lack of adequate mechanization is a limitation to enhancing the agricultural sector.

THE GOAL

To strategize and create solutions toward implementing and adopting technology to answer a more transparent, accurate, and equitable economy.

1. To promote and advice on the use and the adoption of new technologies in every area
2. To encourage ground breaking researches in technologies, engineering, and related discipline
3. To liaise with relevant government agencies, organizations and partners towards training individuals on the emerging technologies and how to solve emerging and predominant problems with the technology.
4. To encourage the adoption technologies that will improve the agricultural sector, thereby improving the Nation’s economy.
5. To identify and partner with organizations and serve as an advisory committee towards implemeting proven technology in business and government for accuracy and transparency.
6. To collaborate with appropriate organizations and bodies to educate young people on the potentials of emerging technology.
7. To research and provide workable ways to replace the faulty systems with more reliable technology.
8. To collaborate with the appropriate systems towards exposing corruption with adequate technological systems.
9. Organize conferences and seminars to address technology transfer challenges and proffer probable solutions.

Technology Transfer consortium is open to all GNA registered members interested in disrupting the existing systems with a more reliable method based on technology. These specialists cut across all disciplines and are not limited to engineering; IT includes programmers, developers, technicians, information technology specialists, and so forth.

Initiatives for Good Governance (IGG)

This specialist group focuses on collaborating with the government and serving as an advisory platform towards implementing good governance and the rule of law for Nigeria. Good governance is fundamental to social, economic, and political development because it enhances orderliness, security of lives and properties, and social welfare. The hindrances to good governance in Nigeria find their roots in tribal, ethnic, and religious segregation. We need to build the masses' confidence in the ability of the government to protect them. Therefore, there is a call for examplary leadership in Nigeria. Leadership and good governance should be paramount for every other sector to function optimally.

Alliance For National Security (ANS)

Education for All Nigerians (EAN)

This Specialist Group comprises of people in the education system to support and improve the Nigerian educational system. They are committed to creating actionable solutions to resolve the academic challenges in the country.

Education is the bedrock of national development. A skilled workforce enhances national development. Education in Nigeria is faced with many challenges. One of them is the inequitable distribution of quality education and inadequate funding, as it gets the lowest allocation in the yearly budget.

Most educational infrastructures are in absolute disrepair and lack proper maintenance. It has become a question of the rich having access to quality education and the poor learning in a less conducive environment, and few disgruntled teachers whose salaries come far and in between.

THE GOAL

To collaborate with education bodies and organizations to ensure quality and accessible education for all irrespective of status.

DUTIES

1. To accelerate the equitable distribution of education funding and materials, especially in the rural areas, through partnerships with agencies and organizations.

2. To proffer solutions to ensure that teachers are paid enough and at the right time.

3. To collaborate with appropriate systems to ensure that the curriculum is revised and updated to meet modern-day demands.

4. To work with the appropriate agency to ensure that qualified teachers are placed at all levels of education.

5. To proffer solutions to curb exam malpractices and set up regulatory bodies that will collaborate and monitor the unlawful collection of student money.

6. To serve as an advisory board towards providing up-to-date and quality teaching aids and materials.

7. To organize conferences and seminars aimed at improving education in Nigeria.

Tourism Development Initiatives (TDI)

This group is for anyone interested in supporting and enhancing the Nigerian tourist industry. Nigeria has over 250 ethnic groups with diverse culture and socio-cultural differences, which attracted international recognition making Nigeria a good center for tourism. Nigeria has excellent cultural history and natural attractions with ethnic events which have tourist potentials throughout the year. Tourism can be a significant source of revenue generation as most travelers are attracted to the unique and exotic culture and new environments. Different festivals from various regions in the country are ripe tourism interests. Some of these festivals include Argungu Fishing festival, New yam festival, Atilogwu dancers, the boat Regatta, the Olofin festival, the Olojo, and so forth.

The tourism market is ripe for foreign investors and individuals who want to benefit from the profitable industry. Some hindrances to tourism in Nigeria include poor infrastructures like good roads, constant electricity, security challenges, bad international reputation, poor management of existing tourist facilities, and inadequate funding.

Members of TDI are tasked with roles and responsibilities of developing and building the tourism potentials in Nigeria and preserving the cultural heritage at the same time through collaboration, conferences, and seminars.

GOALS

To proffer workable methods of maximizing the revenue generation potentials of tourism and sustaining customs and traditions.

DUTIES

1. To work with the appropriate organization to create job and employment opportunities through tourism (hospitality services such as hotels and resorts, transportation services, food services like restaurants, entertainment services like amusement parks, theaters) by working with existing service providers.

2. To alleviate poverty by generating income via tourism through collaboration with the ministry of culture and tourism.

3. To preserve our cultural heritage by encouraging community involvement and participation in traditions and art appreciation.

4. To preserve the ecosystem and biodiversity by partnership and educating the young people on the beauty of customs and traditions.

5. To develop strategies that will attract foreign investment and investors.

6. To promote local communities where the tourist sites exist through activities, learning of the local language, and participation in their festivals.

7. To organize conferences and seminars aimed at improving tourism in Nigeria.

IT for National Development (IND)

Information technology is crucial part of the present world, and Nigeria, like most developing countries, is lacking. Between 1948 till date, information technology has recorded milestones in its usage in Nigeria. A solid resource and research base is vital to national development.

Nigeria needs to take a strategic position amid the emerging digital revolution as it is vital for its development. Telecommunication in Nigeria is doing well, but the information base requires much funding and skilled personnel. Information Technology finds application in virtually every area of the economy, health care, transport, agriculture, manufacturing, and so forth. Some tech startups are already carving out a space for themselves in the sector, ready to deliver the much-needed information technology products and services.

Sound information technology will impact the nation’s economy in all areas - economy, education, health care and so forth.

ITND specialist group will coordinate and regulate information using modern technology to achieve national development.

GOAL

To increase the adoption of information technology for national development.

DUTIES

1. To improve the availability of quality information and information security.

2. To serve as an advisory committee towards provising job and employment opportunities, especially in software development, computer engineering, web design and web development.

3. To review and assess the current state of information technology and encourage adoption of e-commerce at conferences and seminars.

4. To increase transparency and accountability in governance through e-governance and solid public relations.

5. To improve business management and growth by adopting IT tools like automation.

Building and Infrastructure Consortium (BIC)

Housing and Shelter are part of the basic needs of man. Nigeria is facing housing constraints and challenges in rural and urban regions. Rural areas are faced with few houses of poor quality while the urban areas have lots of quality houses. Still, they are either costly for the average individual or too sparse to accommodate the rapid population growth in the cities and towns. Social features that increase the value of a house include electricity supply, water supply, and accessibility. The cost of building materials also places importance on the quality of homes.

These factors makes suitable housing almost accessible to the low and medium-income earners and vulnerable groups.

This specialist group of GNA is focused on shelter and housing matters. The focal purpose is to make/influence implementable housing policies that will provide affordable housing for Nigerians.

GOAL

Implementation of an efficient housing policy to increase access to land and building materials, ensure maintenance of available houses, and provide affordable housing for low-income earners.

DUTIES

1. To determine the challenges faced by the Nigerian housing policy and proffer workable solutions to meet the demands of the housing challenges.

2. To collaborate with the Ministry of Land and housing, including rural and town planning to ensure implementable solutions to the housing problems in Nigeria.

3. To ensure that Nigerians have access to affordable, reasonable, and quality shelter, not just in quantity.

Economic & Financial Experts (EFE)

All the countries worldwide have specific targets for becoming an ideal and economically stable nation. Therefore, countries like Nigeria strive hard to achieve such targets or goals. Hence, governments tend to keep specific goals and targets to achieve growth within a given time frame, generally one year. A specialist group should advice on various issues such as general increase in real output, employment, price stability, economic equity, the balance of payment, financial security and freedom.
