GNA Chapter
The Great Nigerian Assembly (GNA) is a global platform that brings together Nigerians from all walks of life, committed to building a united and prosperous nation. One of the key structural pillars of the GNA is the Chapter System, designed to foster engagement, collaboration, and direct participation in national development efforts. GNA Chapters serve as channels for interaction between the people and government, for community development advocacy, commendation of positive actions, and mobilization for collective impact.
This document outlines the types, structure, eligibility, and procedures for creating and managing GNA Chapters within Nigeria and across the diaspora.
Types of GNA Chapters
- Grassroot Chapter (Nigeria Only)
- The Grassroot Chapter is the smallest and most foundational unit of GNA collaboration within Nigeria.
- It exists by default in every Local Government Area (LGA) in Nigeria.
- Additional Grassroot Chapters may be created within an LGA if justified by need and supported by adequate documentation and community backing.
Key Features:
- Serves as a bridge between the populace and local/state government representatives (e.g., LG Chairpersons, House of Assembly, House of Representatives, Senators).
- Advocates for pressing community needs such as healthcare, education, road infrastructure, utilities, etc.
- Every Nigerian is affiliated with a Grassroot Chapter – either by local government of origin or local government of residence.
Sponsorship:
- Only Township Associations/Organizations are eligible to sponsor additional Grassroot Chapters within a local government.
- Sponsorship requires strict adherence to GNA guidelines and formal application through the GNA platform.
- A default chapter already exists in each LGA, but additional chapters can be approved upon meeting all criteria, including membership threshold and documentation.
- State/Region/Province Chapter (Overseas Only)
- Applies to Nigerians residing abroad.
- Exists by default in every state, region, or province where a significant Nigerian population resides.
- The primary GNA Chapter for any Nigerian in the diaspora is the country of residence's state/region/province chapter.
- The secondary chapter is the Grassroot Chapter in the local government area of origin or former residence in Nigeria
